Each memorial page states its review status in plain language. This page explains what those statuses mean.

Recorded

The memorial itself has been documented — its location, type, inscription and council area — but a researched story has not yet been published.

A story has been submitted and is being checked against sources. It is not public until that check is complete.

Names, dates, locations and key facts have been checked against cited records by a reviewer, and image rights have been confirmed.

Some details are supported by records while others rest on recollection or a single source. The page identifies which parts are which.

A correction has been reported and the record is being reassessed. The current text remains visible with a note while that happens.

Published records are revisited when new sources emerge, when a correction is accepted, or on a periodic schedule agreed with the council.
