Accessibility

Remembered Here targets WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Local history should be reachable by everyone, however they browse.

What we build for

  • Full keyboard navigation with a visible focus indicator on every control.
  • A skip link to the main content on every page.
  • Labelled form controls, clear error messages and no reliance on colour alone.
  • Text contrast and text sizes that remain readable when enlarged.
  • A written location description alongside every map, so the map is never required.
  • Captions or transcripts for audio and video.
  • Respect for reduced-motion preferences.
  • Meaningful alternative text for photographs and descriptive text for decorative images.

Dates and place names

Dates are written in a form that is unambiguous for Australian readers, for example 9 August 2026 rather than a numeric-only format. Place names follow local usage.

Telling us about a barrier

If something is not working for you, contact us through the accessibility enquiry type on the contact page. Tell us the page and what you were trying to do. We will supply the information in another format and correct the barrier.
