Remembered Here was created to help communities discover the human stories behind the names and markers found in everyday public places. By connecting carefully managed digital records to physical memorials, the platform makes local history more visible, accessible and enduring.
Why the platform exists
A plaque can give a name and a date. It rarely has room for the life, the event or the contribution behind it. Over time, the people who could explain the connection are no longer there to ask.
Remembered Here gives each memorial a permanent digital home, so a researched and properly sourced account stays attached to the place it belongs to.
Who we work with
We work with Australian local councils, council heritage teams, community-history organisations and authorised contributors. Councils hold the responsibility for what is published in their area, and we provide the platform, the review workflow and the QR-ready addresses.
How we treat information
Accuracy comes before volume. Stories are checked against cited records, contributors are credited, images carry rights information, and every page shows when it was last reviewed. Where a detail is unknown, the page says so rather than filling the gap.

- WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility, with a written alternative for every map.
- Cultural protocols and family requests respected ahead of completeness.
- Care with information about living people and with exact grave locations.
- A visible pathway to report a correction on every published record.
