Onboarding

Onboarding begins with a short discussion about the memorials in your area, the records you already hold and who will review content. Existing registers, spreadsheets or heritage studies can be imported, and your council collection and map are prepared before anything is published.

Content governance

Councils decide who may publish. Roles cover platform administration, council administration, editing and review, and contribution, each with least-privilege access. Every material content or status change is recorded in an audit history so decisions can be traced.

QR plaque options

Each memorial receives a short, permanent destination URL that does not change. If a page slug is later corrected, the previous address continues to work through a permanent redirect, so installed plaques and codes remain valid.

Accessibility

Pages are built to WCAG 2.2 AA: keyboard navigation, visible focus, skip links, labelled controls, sufficient contrast, captions or transcripts for media, and a written location description alongside every map. Map use is never required to reach a story.

Moderation

Community submissions are never published automatically. Each submission is reviewed for sources, rights, cultural sensitivity and the privacy of living people before an authorised reviewer publishes it.

Data stewardship

Records remain the council’s to correct, extend or withdraw. Contributor contact details are held privately and are never shown on public pages or in structured data. Exact grave locations can be published at an adjusted precision where that is appropriate.

Reporting and maps

Councils can see how many memorials are recorded, what is published, what is awaiting review and which stories are being read, alongside a collection map covering the council area.
