From a local memorial to its lasting story

Discovery

A memorial is identified and recorded with its location, memorial type, inscription and council area. This record exists before any story is written, so the physical place is always the anchor.

Research

Authorised contributors gather text, photographs, documents, audio or video, along with the sources those details came from. Where a detail cannot be supported, it is left out rather than filled in.

Review

A reviewer checks names, dates, places and sources, considers cultural sensitivity and the privacy of living people, and confirms image rights before anything becomes public.

Publication

The memorial receives its own page with a short factual summary, the full backstory, location details, media, sources, contributors and a last-reviewed date.

QR installation

Each page has a short, permanent address suitable for a durable QR code at the memorial itself. That address is designed never to change, even if the page title or slug is later corrected.

Corrections

Anyone can report a correction. Reports are assessed against sources and, where a change is made, the page records that it was reviewed again.

How certainty is described

Pages distinguish three kinds of content in plain language so readers know what they are reading.

• Verified facts: supported by cited records or published sources.
• Attributed recollections: personal memories credited to the person who shared them.
• User submissions: information received and shown as awaiting verification, or withheld until it can be checked.
